Have you ever found yourself wondering what you truly want in life? Most people think it’s hard to find the answer to such a question. But the longer I work with my clients as a coach, the more I clearly see that we all know deep in our hearts what we truly want and that it’s actually not that hard to find out.
Let me start this way…

Your true desires are constantly pulsing within you, urging you to be expressed. As the great Persian mystic Rumi once wrote, “What you seek is seeking you.” The real challenge, however, is to grant yourself permission to consciously desire what you know you truly want and be willing to pay the price to get it.
So, instead of grappling with the frustration of not knowing what you truly want in life, focus on understanding why you might be holding yourself back. To assist you in this introspective journey, I’ll share two pivotal questions that I’ve found invaluable when working with clients on a similar quest.
“Why am I not granting myself permission to desire what I know I truly want?”
The first question is, “Why am I not granting myself permission to desire what I know I truly want?”
In other words, the first question to ask yourself is why you may be resisting your true desires. Often, we’re influenced by societal conditioning, which can lead us to believe that our aspirations are unrealistic or beyond reach. Social norms and expectations can limit our true desires, causing us to suppress them out of fear or self-doubt.
But here’s the truth: You hold the power to break free from these limitations. By allowing yourself to desire what your heart truly longs for, you automatically create space for personal growth and manifesting your true desires.
So, start by reflecting on the fears or doubts that may be holding you back. Are you worried about judgment or failure? Once you identify these barriers, take small steps to overcome them.
Remember that every great achievement begins with a desire. But to unlock your true desires, it’s not enough to feel them pulsing in your heart. You must claim them. You must own them. You must download them into your conscious mind. That’s why I like to say that you must grant yourself permission to consciously desire what you know you truly want. So, grant yourself permission to consciously desire what you truly want deep in your heart, regardless of external circumstances. And keep in mind that your true desires are not just wishful thinking; they are a vital part of your identity.
“Why am I not willing to pay the price?”
The second question is, “Why am I not willing to pay the price?”
The second question to consider is why you may not be willing to pay the price to manifest your desires. Many desire instant gratification and shy away from the effort and sacrifice necessary to attain their goals. However, it is essential to understand that all worthwhile achievements require dedication, perseverance, and self-discipline. I know it doesn’t sound sexy, but it’s a fact.
So, reflect on your current priorities and commitments. Are you willing to make the necessary sacrifices to pursue what you truly want deep in your heart? It may require adjusting your lifestyle, investing time and energy, or even making difficult decisions. Recognize that manifesting your true desires often entails stepping outside your comfort zone. Therefore, welcome the discomfort and challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation.
Moreover, having clarity about the inherent value and fulfillment that pursuing your true desires will bring is crucial. When you understand the importance of your true desires and their impact on your overall well-being, you’ll be much more motivated to pay the price.
Taking the first steps toward your desires
Once you have identified your true desires and determined that you are willing to pay the price, it is time to act. It’s crucial to remember that the journey towards your true desires is not always linear. So, don’t even count on it. There will be obstacles, setbacks, and moments of self-doubt along the way. Embrace these challenges as opportunities to grow and strengthen your resilience. Remember that each step, even the small one, brings you closer to your desires. And remember that your true desires are like living entities waiting for you to embrace them. You know, in my opinion, our true desires are nothing but a direct invitation from our soul, inviting us to engage in the most profound play. In other words, they represent a deeper calling from our soul. So why wouldn’t you say YES to that?

So, to summarize this… the first question to ask yourself is, “Why am I not granting myself permission to desire what I know I truly want?” And the second question is, “Why am I not willing to pay the price?”
